How to enjoy an ordinary day

I was unloading the dishwasher this morning and it got me thinking about the way our minds work.

Essence of the The Lived-In Library

You see, this is all part of The Lived-In Library. Even a dishwasher. A simple reminder — things will get messy. We have to clean it up. But there are also lessons and joy.

The Lived-In Library is a tool for the ordinary. Like the dishes you have to unload day-after-day. You can find ways to enjoy the ordinary days.

Practice Unloading

Just as we load dishes into the dishwasher, or place them in the sink to handwash, we fill our minds with countless thoughts. We instinctively know the dishes need to be cleaned. We can’t leave the used dishes there without it piling up. It happens, of course. But we must clean. Clear it.

Yet we keep all these thoughts in our head without releasing it. It’s almost as if we’re piling up one dish after another — until it becomes too unbearable.

So start with the unloading. Clear the mind in a way that works for you. Practice the brain dump. The journaling. Jump rope. Go on the walk. Whatever it is that either gets you moving or the thoughts out.

That Lived-In Feeling

These are the lived-in parts of The Lived-In Library.

We can’t clear our minds without the proper tools. These are the tools I personally need myself. The ordinary led me to The Lived-In Library. So here I am, inviting you to embrace the ordinary.

There is fun and joy in the ordinary.

Enjoy the coffee mugs and bowls that bring you joy. Create the environment that lights you up during the holidays at home. It’s amazing what a little unloading can do to refresh the mind. The way it humbles you and reminds you of the beauty in those lived-in moments.

Until next time [God willing],

Sandy
