A little sticker that says, “Thinking of You.”

One day, you’ll put an old snowman sticker in his luggage before a business trip.

A little token that says, I’m thinking of you, without saying a word.

For years, Will and I have taken turns hiding this sticker for each other. Sometimes it finds its way into a suitcase. Sometimes somewhere unexpected.

It has become a keepsake. A tradition. One of those tiny things that probably wouldn’t mean much to anyone else—but means something to us.

I think that’s part of what makes a marriage feel lived-in.

Not just the big milestones, but the little rituals and inside jokes and ways of saying I know you. I thought of you. We have a life together.

This is one of the ideas that inspired The Lived-In Marriage Edition, which I’ve been working on behind the scenes.

A collection of simple ideas for creating more joy, thoughtfulness, play, and connection in the everyday life of your marriage.

Coming soon to The Lived-In Library.
